Three established pulse sequences for first-pass myocardial perfusion imaging (SR-TurboFLASH, SR-TrueFISP and SR-Interleaved Gradient EPI) were compared with regard to image quality obtained while using TSENSE with an acceleration factor of two. Phantom studies showed that the linearity of the signal intensity with contrast agent concentration is increased when using TSENSE and therefore quantification may be improved. In a volunteer study TrueFISP yielded the best SNR, CNR and quality scores. It is therefore considered most suitable for quantitative analysis of myocardial perfusion.
