Alveolar partial pressure of oxygen (pO2) and its depletion rate (R) are important parameters for lung function assessment. Since there is variety of well established rodent animal models of lung diseases regional information on these parameters in small animals is desirable. For this purpose a novel single acquisition pO2 sensitive method has been developed with sliding window technique used for RF flip angle correction. The first maps of initial pO2 and R in rats are demonstrated using this protocol.
