A new MRI method, based upon magnetization exchange between macromolecules and water in tissues (MEXI) is presented. Coagulated tissue has much faster magnetization exchange rate leading to the new contrast. The method was tested for porcine liver and porcine muscle. A good contrast was obtained between fresh and coagulated tissues.
