In robot-assisted interventions in closed-bore MR magnets a continuous alignment of slice position and orientation with the interventional device is required. In this work a network interface was developed that transfers measured device coordinates to the MRI host computer. The interface was combined with a dedicated real-time pulse sequence where slice position and orientation are updated. Compared to slice tracking with MR marker coils this direct control system is simpler to realize and does not require any additional rf hardware.
