The effect of body size and shape on RF safety and B1 field homogeneity at 3T

We present a study about the effect of body size and shape on B1 field homogeneity and the creation of SAR and temperature hotspots at 3T. The typical results that we show are based on FDTD calculations with various anatomies and show a significant influence on B1 field homogeneity, SAR deposition and local temperature rise. This study helps us to understand the effect of body geometry on RF field inhomogeneity and RF safety during MRI scanning.
