Purpose: To compare the efficiency of gadolinium-enhanced 3D MR imaging and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for detection and characterization of HCCs. Methods: Unenhanced, gadolinium-enhanced 3D MR imaging and DSA were obtained in 73 patients. RESULTS: The gadolinium-enhanced 3D MR image set and DSA detected 139 (5 lesions 1.0cm) and 171 HCCs (37 lesions 1.0cm) respectively, and diagnosed correctly 128 HCCs and 133 HCCs respectively. CONCLUSION: The gadolinium-enhanced 3D MR image set is superior to DSA for characterization of HCCs and DSA is superior to the gadolinium-enhanced 3D MR image set for Detection of HCCs (1.0cm).
