Manganese enhanced MRI (MEMRI) has been developed for in vivo neuronal tract tracing as well as a marker for neuronal activation. Here we extend the use of MEMRI in the murine olfactory system as a means to detect in vivo axonal transport rates. We verified microtubule based axonal transport with responses to temperature changes and pharmacological agents.
