Magnetic transfer imaging (MTI) usually requires long acquisition times. We applied six fast MTI scans with parallel imaging and segmented EPI in nine healthy volunteers. Magnetic transfer ratio (MTR) histogram peak height, peak location and histogram mean value were evaluated. A one-way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni post hoc tests showed no significant differences in histogram peak height, peak location or mean MTR between conventional MTI and fast MTI scans. Moreover, no changes in standard deviation were observed. Our findings show that fast MTI can be applied in a routine clinical setting with acquisition times less than one minute.
