Aim of this study was to implement a respiratory triggered echo-planar-imaging (EPI) based DWI sequence and in a first step to evaluate image quality and contrast parameters of focal liver lesions in comparison to a T2-weighted turbo spin-echo (TSE) sequence. 4 healthy volunteers and 8 consecutive patients with 16 focal liver lesions were prospectively evaluated. Respiratory triggered EPI based DWI is feasible since good image quality and good liver-lesion contrast can be achieved.
