Coil Combination Method for Peak-Combination HARP

An efficient algorithm for combining signals from multiple coil elements using peak-combination HARP is presented. Phase contributions originating from the different spatial locations of the coil elements are compensated for without requiring an additional coil calibration scan. Using a 32-element phased array coil, myocardial tracking results of the proposed combination method were in good agreement with the results of the combination method by Roemer. Improved tracking results were achieved compared to the analysis with one coil element and the RMS-combination of all coil elements. HARP-analysis can be clearly improved applying the proposed coil combination method without requiring a reference scan.
