A
single-channel planar shim coil for a permanent magnet was developed using the
target field approach. The winding pattern for the shim coil was calculated
for a 1.0 T permanent magnet using the magnetic field inhomogeneity measured
with a 3D lattice phantom. The designed shim coil improved the magnetic field
homogeneity by about 5 times, which demonstrated the usefulness of our
approach.
