We will review the application of T2*- and diffusion-based assessments of tissue microstructure in bone, lung, heart, tumor, and developing brain. Both basic science and clinical applications will be discussed, including osteoporosis, emphysema, myocardial injury, tumor response to therapy, and differential rates of cortical development.
