The increase in T2 relaxation times of skeletal muscle after exercise has been correlated with the increase of the diffusion coefficient D in the tibialis anterior of six subjects. The T2 and D measurements were acquired in approximately 90 s intervals before and for approximately 10 minutes after flexion exercise and were highly correlated, indicating that any model used to explain T2 increases with exercise must also account for increased diffusion coefficients
