A robust fat-suppression approach is proposed as an adjunct to the T2-TIDE-bSSFP (balanced SSFP imaging with transition into driven equilibrium with T2-weighting) imaging technique. The scheme employs a simple addition of half Fourier option, which places the fat frequency within the null-signal bands which span for a wide range of off-resonance frequencies. During signal evolution, a substantial signal void in the central k-space thus leads to effective fat suppression. Imaging experiments in the abdomen agree well with theoretical calculations. The proposed method has potential for routine clinical applications in abdominal and cardiac imaging.
