In navigator guided cardiac and abdominal imaging, the imaging slab often intersects with the navigator tracker column. As a result, the imaging slab will partially saturate the tracker column and degrade the navigator spatial profile, leading to lower displacement detection accuracy. We proposed a pre-saturation sequence at the end of each image acquisition period to saturate the entire length of the tracker column, thereby allowing uniform recovery of longitudinal magnetization in this region for the next imaging period. Results showed that the proposed technique reduced the partial saturation effects in the navigator spatial profile and increased the displacement detection accuracy.
