Fiber tracking is either used as a purely qualitative anatomical method, for example showing how tracts avoid or go through a tumor. Curvatures and torsion have been proposed as a method to quantify fiber tracts. One drawback of the proposed method is that curvatures and torsions are very sensitive to discretisation noise. Here, we want to: discuss an appropriate smoothing method, and propose new tools to quantify fiber tracts, and compare them with previously proposed ones. This is demonstrated on synthetic and in vivo datasets.
