Axonal transport deficit has been implicated as a common mechanism of Alzheimers disease (AD) pathology. We used MEMRI to measure fast axonal transport rates in olfactory bulbs and olfactory cortex of a triple transgenic mouse model of AD (3xTg). Our results indicate that axonal transport deficit starts as early as 3 months of age and precedes Aβ plaque and neuro-fibrillary tangle pathology.
