This study explored the use of ultra high-resolution 3D anatomical MRI (MR microscopy) to resolve different layers ex vivo rat retina at a nominal resolution of 10x10x14m. MR microscopy showed multiple distinct bands with remarkable contrast and in excellent agreement with similar histological sections. MRI and histological layer thicknesses were in excellent agreement.
