Developmental neurotoxicity is very important part of
the evaluation of the new drug safety and is usually assessed using
conventional histological and biochemical methods. Current study represents
the first step in establishing the baseline for developmental neurotoxicology
research using non-invasive imaging/spectroscopy techniques, which offer the
opportunity to improve effectiveness and reduce animal use in such research. 1H-MRS
methodology has a potential to improve our understanding of brain maturation
and provides promising tool for development and qualification of new
translatable non-invasive biomarkers
