MR acquisitions have to be synchronized with respiration to avoid motion artifacts. Pneumatic belts are the most current tool for this purpose. However, these belts suffer from signal drifts and leaks in pneumatic system. To correct these shortcomings an optical sensor in form of belt has been developed using optical fiber Bragg grating sensor (FBG).
