To investigate the possibility of using T 1 contrast to selectively image myelin water, inversion-recovery prepared multi-gradient-echo imaging was performed on human subjects at 7T. Multi-component fitting of the T 2 * decay curve allowed distinguishing between water inside and outside the myelin sheath and quantifying individual T 1 -decay time constants. When properly accounting for imperfect inversion efficiency, no substantial difference between apparent T 1 of the different compartments was found, suggesting a relatively rapid exchange of water within and outside the myelin sheath.

For one year after publication, abstracts and videos are only open to registrants of this annual meeting. Registrants should use their existing login information. Non-registrant access can be purchased via the ISMRM E-Library.

After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.

After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
