In this work, the validity of the commonly made
assumption of an isotropic tissue density (1000 kg/m)
for SAR calculations is investigated. SAR matrix
Eigenvalues- and vectors of an 8-channel head array for
7T MRI are compared and a statistical analysis
performed. It is found, that the simplified SAR
distribution leads to an overestimation of local SAR by
11-12% on average.
