Adaptive Registration of Varying Contrast-Weighted Images for Improved Tissue Characterization (ARCTIC): Application to T 1 mapping

Quantitative myocardial T 1 mapping is commonly performed using a breath-hold ECG-triggered acquisition. Despite breath-hold instructions, motion is observed in ~50% of patients due to diaphragmatic drift and the patients limited breath-holding capability. Registration of each T 1 -weighted image can be performed to reduce motion artifacts in T 1 maps but remains challenging due to the high intensity variations among T 1 weighted images. In this study we propose a novel non-rigid motion correction approach for improved T 1 mapping.
