Obesity is an independent risk factor for development of nephropathy. However, human studies have been limited, because of the complication risk of repeated renal biopsies. Therefore, we assessed the reproducibility of the non-invasive 1H-MRS renal triglyceride (TG) measurement, compared to TG content in kidney biopsies, in an animal model. In total fourteen left-sided porcine kidneys were obtained. The average TG level in the renal cortex was 0.250.16% measured by 1H-MRS and 12675 nmol/mg protein in biopsy. The Pearson correlation coefficient is 0.81 (p < 0.0001) showing good correlation The Bland-Altman analysis shows a bias close to zero confirming good correlation.
