The purpose of this study is to measure and report the field dependence of NMR relaxation times (T* and T1) of the free and bound water in cortical bone at magnetic field strenghts corresponding to frequencies of 600 MHz and 700MHz. T2* of bound/free water is measured to be 6.2(0.1)s /80(3)s at 600MHz and decreases to 5.4(0.1)s /63(5)s at 700 MHz. T1 of bound/free water is reported to be 628/632ms at 600 MHz and 661/672 ms at 700 MHz. At both field strengths, the free water contributes to about 10% of the NMR signal.
