Multiple quantitative relaxation parameters (T1ρ, T2, and T2*) were used to study progression in premanifest Huntingtons Disease. T1ρ showed the greatest change in the striatum and was significantly associated with with disease progression. These changes were also independent of T2 changes suggesting that the changes were likely due to changes in chemical exchange. T2* changes were observed in the globus pallidus but these were not associated with disease progression. The changes in T1ρ are consistent with a decrease in glucose concentrations or pH.
