Synopsis

Keywords: Prostate, Diffusion/other diffusion imaging techniquesIn clinical practice, distinguishing between Prostate cancer (PCa) and chronic prostatitis (CP) is difficult but necessary. PCa and CP are heterogeneous at the tissue and cell level, and the continuous time random-walk (CTRW) model can provide information on tissue heterogeneity at the microscopic level. We used the CTRW model to characterize tissue heterogeneity and complexity in CP and PCa. Significant differences were found for the CTRW parameters (α, Dm) between CP and PCa. Moreover, CTRW parameters (α, β, Dm) combined with ADC showed optimal diagnostic efficacy for diagnosis, and this combination would be benefit for the clinical diagnostic work.
