Keywords: Deuterium, Aging, Human eyeIn the absence of a blood supply the lens operates an internal microcirculation to deliver nutrients, remove metabolic wastes, and controll the lens volume, which together to maintain the optical properties of the lens. While this microcirculation is generated by circulating fluxes of ions and water, visualising water flow throughout the whole lens and especially into the central of lens in real time has proven challenging. To address this, we developed and optimised new deuterium oxide (D2O) MRI protocols to image water flow within multiple organ-cultured bovine lenses that can be routinely performed using 3T clinical MRI.

For one year after publication, abstracts and videos are only open to registrants of this annual meeting. Registrants should use their existing login information. Non-registrant access can be purchased via the ISMRM E-Library.
After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.
After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
