Synopsis

Keywords: High-Field MRI, Non-Array RF Coils, Antennas & Waveguides, metamaterialsA bio-inspired surface coil was built for preclinical MRI applications at 7 T. Images were acquired with and without a flexible metasurface partially cover a cylindrical phantom. Images obtained with the metamaterial showed an important improvement of coil performance. No electronic components were used for tuning the metasurface. This easy-to-implement approach offers an alternative to improve the SNR for preclinical applications at high field.
