Keywords: Psychiatric Disorders, High-Field MRIMajor depressive disorder has complex pathophysiology. It is critical to understand treatment-resistant depression (TRD) specifically, as there are many patients for whom no sufficient treatment exists. In this study we assess volumetric differences in hippocampal subfields between TRD patients and healthy controls (HC) using automatic segmentation of hippocampal subfields and ultra-high field MRI. 13 TRD patients and 13 HC underwent imaging using 7-Tesla MRI. ASHS software produced automated hippocampal segmentation for volumetric analysis. Compared to HC, TRD patients showed reduced right-hemisphere CA2/3 subfield volume. Determining biomarkers for TRD pathophysiology may elucidate the underlying mechanisms of treatment-resistant depression.

After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.
After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
