In the present work we measured brain metabolite concentrations during a visual stimulation paradigm at 7 T with a full-intensity 1H MRS sequence, semi-LASER. In excellent agreement with our previous findings obtained with STEAM sequence, we observed significant concentration changes within ┬▒ 0.2 ┬Ámol/g for lactate, glutamate, aspartate and glucose. However, we could not detect changes in glutathione, glycine, glutamine and GABA as reported in other studies, despite higher MRS sensitivity. We conclude that the latter concentration changes are likely to be ascribed to the particular settings of the visual stimulation paradigm.
