Fast Chemical Shift Imaging of Hyperpolarized 13C Substrates

Fast chemical shift imaging allows for in vitro and in vivo visualization of chemical shift as well as spatial localization of 13C substrates within the fast relaxation time frame of hyperpolarization. Multiple CSI acquisitions allows for dynamic time course of signal intensities that is sensitive to multiple hyperpolarized reagents for periods of up to 5 minutes post hyperpolarization. In vivo experiments in rats demonstrate that this technique has great potential to observe metabolism using hyperpolarized reagents that were previously beyond detection.
