This study aimed to localise regions of hedonia in the normal brain. This was achived by using an event-related, group specific, sporting paradigm. The stimuli were digital video clips from football (soccer) matches. Eight healthy male subjects were imaged. Reward (Goals being scored) and non-reward (Missed goal scoring opportunities) elements were presented in order to resolve pleasurable emotions from those of anticipation. This was achieved without the requirement for any subject decision making process.
