Complications in the quantification of GAG in cartilage with T1&[rho] imaging

Data are presented that describe some complications of using T1&[rho] relaxometry for the quantification of GAG in cartilage. In vitro studies suggest that collagen has similar contributions to R1&[rho], and may confound the ability to infer GAG content in cartilage.
