DTI-based characterization of skeletal muscle injury was performed which included detailed analysis of all the eigenvalues and eigenvectors. In normal situations the direction of the principal eigenvector is along the muscle fibers. However, it was demonstrated that upon injury the principal eigenvector may change its orientation to perpendicular to the fiber direction.
