We present a reduced FOV (rFOV) sequence designed for fetal fMRI. Two-dimensional selective outer volume suppression allows rFOV imaging without aliasing of signal from the maternal abdomen. Imaging performance is compared with a conventional full FOV gradient echo sequence. FMRI studies were performed with a) an auditory stimulus and b) oxygen modulation. The rFOV sequence allows tradeoffs between shortening the readout trajectory and lowering gradient slew rates for quieter scanning and increased SNR. Preliminary negatively correlated activation measurements (cc < -.2) from oxygen modulation are reported.
