Models have been developed for analysis of dynamic contrast enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) data that include the effects of transcytolemmal water exchange. It has been hypothesized that these models are more sensitive to tumor physiology. Here we present the first example of a DCE-MRI analysis of the response to treatment in human breast cancer which incorporates the effects of transcytolemmal water exchange.
