We described a new semi-automatic method of segmentation to identify the renal cortex based on functional features of the kidney, using perfusion MRI data. By doing this we take advantage of the histological differences between kidneys cortex and medulla. Our results show that we were able to differentiate both tissues. This have the potential utility to choose the most adequate treatment and for following-up patients after therapies.
