It has been shown that in Alzheimers Disease amyloid deposition in cerebral microvessels plays an important role in cerebral perfusion. In this MRI study we investigated capillary density through relaxation rate shift index Q, and perfusion with bolus tracking . All measurements were performed on a 9.4T scanner equipped with a cryogenic phased-array coil, recording a 2D Spin Echo-RARE, a 3D Gradient Echo-FLASH and an EPI sequence. Our results show there is a decrease of capillary density and cortical perfusion in 24months-old arcA mice, suggesting that the index Q is a reliable indicator of capillary density in brain microvasculopathies
