We investigate the feasibility of imaging the first passage of a bolus of hyperpolarized 13 C urea through the rat heart. We propose to use flow-sensitizing bipolar gradients to null the bright signal within the cardiac chambers. An ECG-gated, golden angle spiral pulse sequence is used to obtain dynamic images of 13 C urea in the heart (2.3x2.3x5 mm 3 resolution, TR~150 ms). Flow-sensitization results in black-blood contrast that enables direct visualization of hyperpolarized 13 C urea within the tissue capillary bed. Our results demonstrate reduced contamination from the cardiac lumen.

For one year after publication, abstracts and videos are only open to registrants of this annual meeting. Registrants should use their existing login information. Non-registrant access can be purchased via the ISMRM E-Library.

After one year, current ISMRM & ISMRT members get free access to both the abstracts and videos. Non-members and non-registrants must purchase access via the ISMRM E-Library.

After two years, the meeting proceedings (abstracts) are opened to the public and require no login information. Videos remain behind password for access by members, registrants and E-Library customers.
