1H NMR-based Metabolomics study of saliva samples in Patients with Parkinson’s disease

NMR techniques play a major role in understanding the metabolic changes associated with neurological disorders. We used ¹H NMR spectra at 700 MHz for identification of biomarkers in PD from saliva samples. The data were processed using MestReNova software (version 10.0) and PLS-DA multivariate analysis using MetaboAnalyst (version 3.0) software. We observed significantly elevated level of butyrate, glycine, phenyl alanine, tyrosine and decreased level of lactate, which may be attributed to poor intestinal absorption in PD patients.
