Synopsis

Keywords: Parkinson's Disease, Quantitative Susceptibility mapping

Motivation: This work is motivated the need for whole brain quantitative susceptibility maps to investigate cortical and brain stem iron in rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder.

Goal(s): A multi-contrast atlas using whole brain susceptibility, structural $$$T_1w$$$ image and magnetization contrast atlas allows for cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis of the brain stem, cortex, and deep gray nuclei.

Approach: Maps were reconstructed and co-registered to a multi-echo gradient echo magnitude atlas.

Results: Significantly different changes in longitudinal susceptibility between cohorts was observed. This whole brain multi-contrast atlas can also be easily extended to separated susceptibility sources or myelin maps.

Impact: A whole brain multi-contrast rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder atlas is presented to facilitate automatic segmentation. Such segmentations are helpful for cross-sectional comparisons and longitudinal analysis in healthy volunteer, REM sleep behavior disorder and early-stage Parkinson’s disease populations.
