Synopsis

Keywords: Structural Connectivity, Alzheimer's Disease

Motivation: To explore variability in multiple metabolic indicators (SBP, FBG, BMI, LDL-C) relates to brain perfusion, structure, and cognitive function, and the mediating role of cerebral perfusion and structural changes.

Goal(s): To clarify the impact of metabolic variability on brain perfusion, structure, and cognitive function.

Approach: A prospective cohort study based on the Kailuan Study, including clinical, laboratory, questionnaire, cognitive assessments, and brain MRI data

Results: High metabolic variability was negatively associated with cerebral perfusion, structure, and cognitive function, with changes in perfusion and structure mediating cognitive decline.

Impact: These findings underscore the role of metabolic variability in cognitive decline and brain health, supporting early preventive strategies relevant to Alzheimer’s disease prevention
