Synopsis

Keywords: MR-Guided Interventions, MR-Guided Interventions

Motivation: Selective labeling of arterial blood with a catheter-mounted transmit RF-coil has the potential to replace repeated contrast agent injections during MR-guided procedures.

Goal(s): This study investigates the requirements for robust labeling with a catheter coil under variations of catheter positioning and blood flow.

Approach: The labeling process is investigated with analytical calculations, numerical simulations and in-vitro measurements.

Results: Robust labeling of at least 25% is achieved by a labeling pulse amplitude of 0.5 V for a single-loop coil and 1.25 V for a solenoid coil.

Impact: Robust and efficient intra-arterial spin labeling can be achieved for perfusion measurements during MR-guided interventions.
