Enhancing Predictive Accuracy of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Response in Osteosarcoma Using Habitat Analysis of IVIM and DCE-MRI

Motivation: To enhance early prediction of chemotherapy effectiveness in osteosarcoma, thereby improving personalized treatment strategies and patient outcomes.

Goal(s): This study investigates the potential of habitat analysis using Intravoxel Incoherent Motion (IVIM) and Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) to predict neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) responses in osteosarcoma patients.

Approach: Analyzing 71 patients, we segmented functional images into eight habitats and identified key features linked to treatment outcomes.

Results: The HAB-IVIM-Bi model demonstrated strong predictive capabilities, achieving an AUC of 0.797.These findings suggest that integrating habitat analysis with IVIM and DCE-MRI can enhance personalized treatment planning and improve patient management in osteosarcoma.

Impact: This research highlights the utility of multiparametric MRI in predicting chemotherapy responses, paving the way for personalized treatment strategies and improved clinical outcomes for osteosarcoma patients. Future studies could further explore imaging biomarkers in diverse tumor subtypes.
