Synopsis

Keywords: Diffusion Acquisition, Diffusion Acquisition

Motivation: Focused, distortion-free diffusion imaging has previously been explored using focused imaging combined with a novel multi-shot, termed DIADEM (Distortion-free Imaging: A Double Encoding Method). However, its application for orbit diffusion imaging is limited by severe eye motion-induced phase errors between shots, compromising image reliability.

Goal(s): This study aims to enhance the reliability of orbit diffusion imaging by improving shot-to-shot phase correction.

Approach: Phase discrepancies between shots were estimated using data from both signal and navigator acquisitions for more accurate and reliable phase estimation.

Results: The proposed approach successfully enhanced imaging reliability for orbit diffusion imaging with focused DIADEM.

Impact: Focused DIADEM diffusion-weighted imaging enhances clinical orbit imaging by reducing artifacts, improving spatial resolution, and enabling more accurate diffusion characterization of orbital structures and associated pathologies.
