Synopsis

Keywords: Tumors (Pre-Treatment), DWI/DTI/DKI

Motivation: Brain invasion of meningioma is associated with therapeutic strategies and clinical outcomes.

Goal(s): To investigate the value of histogram analysis of DKI and DTI in predicting the brain invasion of meningioma.

Approach: The whole-tumour histogram parameters were extracted from diffusion maps of 134 meningiomas. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the parameters of brain invasive and non-invasive meningiomas. The ROC curve was performed to identify the diagnostic performance.

Results: The histogram parameter based on DKI and DTI is useful to evaluate the brain invasion of meningioma. The DKI combined model can further improve the diagnostic efficiency, with an AUC of 0.914.

Impact: Whole-tumour histogram analysis of diffusion kurtosis imaging can accurately predict the brian invasion of meningioma, which may facilitate personalized treatment and prognostic assessment for patients with meningioma.
