Synopsis

Keywords: MR Fingerprinting, MR Fingerprinting, T1rho

Motivation: Co-registered T1, T2, T2*, T1rho, and PDFF quantification could enable comprehensive characterization of renal tissue properties.

Goal(s): To simultaneously collect T1, T2, T2*, T1rho, and PDFF maps in a 2D slice of the kidney in a single breath-hold.

Approach: We implemented an MRF sequence featuring spin-lock preparations and a multi-echo rosette readout, designed for acquisition in a 20s breath-hold. Maps were generated from the acquired data using a low rank, dictionary-patch regularized reconstruction.

Results: Joint 2D mapping of renal T1, T2, T2*, T1rho, and PDFF in a breath-hold is feasible, producing similar maps to conventional single-property approaches.

Impact: An expanded rosette MRF protocol with spin-lock preparations for T1rho mapping, together with dictionary-patch regularized reconstruction, provides a multi-parameter quantitative evaluation of kidney health, potentially improving diagnostic accuracy for diffuse kidney disease.
