Motivation: SEMAC-VAT improves imaging around metallic implants but has prolonged acquisition times. Compressed SENSE (CS) significantly reduces scan times, may address this issue.
Goal(s): To evaluate the clinical utility of CS combined with SEMAC-VAT for patients with lumbar metal implants and identify the optimal CS factor.
Approach: SEMAC-VAT T2 imaging utilized parallel acquisition and CS (CS4, CS6). Comparisons included implant artifact area, clarity, and diagnostic confidence. A paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test assessed acceleration factors and image quality scores.
Results: SEMAC-VAT technology integrated with CS offers a promising solution for metal artifact reduction. The CS factor 4 was recommended.
Impact: SEMAC-VAT technology integrated with Compressed SENSE provides a promising solution for metal artifact reduction in patients with lumbar metal implants within clinical acceptable time.
