Motivation: Enhancing Traveling-Wave MRI at 7 Tesla using a nonagon Geometry metamaterial in an open waveguide.

Goal(s): Enhance the image quality of images obtained through the traveling-wave approach by utilizing a nonagonal-shaped metamaterial-loaded open waveguide.

Approach: This approach involves a nonagonal-shaped metamaterial-loaded open waveguide filled with a saline solution, complemented by a transceiver designed with a bio-inspired surface coil.

Results: Images obtained using the nonagonal-shape metamaterial-loaded waveguide exhibited a significantly improved signal-to-noise ratio and closely matched the image quality achieved with our in-house birdcage coils.

Impact: enhance travelling wave MRI approach at 7 Tesla
